I am Lawson Harris - Aquatics Director of our 20th Avenue Branch. I have a BS of Aquatics from Ball State University, Chirp Chirp!

I currently hold certifications in lifeguarding, water safety instruction, and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer with first aid, and as an instructor trainer in Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructors. I started working for the Y in 2013 and have had the opportunity to work with the Woodson YMCA, YMCA of the Chippewa Valley, YMCA of Muncie, and Fond du Lac YMCA. Additionally, outside of the Y I have worked with park and recreation departments, and waterparks.

My role in the Y is to provide safe, family friendly environments for our community. I lead and empower our employees so they can encourage, and develop our participants in water fitness, swim lessons, safety training and lifeguard courses, and swim team to grow as swimmers of any path they choose in and out of the water.

I choose to work for the Y because I believe in our mission and values of being dedicated to giving people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. The Y was where I grew up! Where I learned to swim, meet friends, try something new outside my comfort zone, and embraced my community!

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my spouse and family, traveling, and trying new experiences.
