There are several different areas to work in the Oshkosh Community YMCA. We are currently hiring for the following positions:

 

Welcome Center Attendent 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Noon-5pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday and rotating weekend shifts as needed.

Responsibilities: ​The Welcome Center Attendant is responsible for greeting all members and guests of the Y in a professional and welcoming manner.  In addition, staff verify memberships, sell day passes, fold towels, and assist members as needed.  The Welcome Center Attendant has the unique opportunity to interact with all our members as they arrive and depart our facility.  Building lasting relationships with our members is essential to the growth and longevity of the Y and our mission. 

Requirements: Applicants must be able to move freely throughout the building.The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years customer servcie experience, possess excellent communitcation & computer skills, and be energetic, positive and movivated.



Camp Winni-Y-Co Counselors

 
Hours per week: Full-time (June 16-August 29; training begins mid-May
 
Work Days: Monday-Friday (including 3 overnights)

Pay: Weekly stipend (depending on experience)

Responsibilities: ​Caring for children ages 5-11 years old at Camp Winni-Y-Co. Staff members need to be energetic and like being active. Staff are responsible for lesson planning each week, attending weekly field trips, and counselor-planned clubs. Each week will include activies like arts & crafts, bike trail riding, large group games, ice breakers, nature activities, playground activities, and more. Counselors will work closely with their counselor peers and the Camp Director.

Requirements: Prior experience working with children in a camp or similar location is highly encouraged, but not necessary. Desire to be outdoors and active is a must. Training in all areas required will be provided.
 



Summer Fun Club Assistant Teacher

 
Hours per week: 36-38 hours/week
 
Work Days: Monday-Friday

Pay: $7.50/hour

Responsibilities: ​Working with children ages 5-12 at both Y locations. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for helping lead teachers create weekly lesson plans and activities. Activities range from arts and craft lessons, group games, outdoor activities, science and nature, etc. They will communicate with parents on a daily basis, supervise and interact with children at all times. They will work closely with other staff members and report to Site Coordinator and School Age Director.

Requirements: Education courses/trainings or prior experience working with children are highly encouraged, but not necessary. Staff will be required to be CPR/First Aid certified.

Work Days: Monday-Friday

Pay: $8/hour

Activities range from arts and craft lessons, group games, outdoor activities, science and nature, etc. They will communicate with parents on a daily basis, supervise and interact with children at all times. They will work closely with other staff members and report to Site Coordinator and School Age Director.

Requirements: Education courses/trainings or prior experience working with children are highly encouraged, but not necessary. Staff will be required to be CPR/First Aid certified.



Teen Adventure Assistant Teacher

Pay: $8/hour

For all above positions:

Interviews will begin in March, training begins mid-May and summer starts in June and runs through August. During those months, staff are allowed 3 days off total. This is an 11 week summer program. There is no program Friday July 4th.

Active Older Adult (AOA) Instructors:

Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days:  Chair Yoga ~ 10:45-11:30am Mondays at the DTC
                    Zumba Gold/Latin Dance ~ class time TBD
                    Senior Muscle Conditioning/Cardio ~ class time TBD

Responsibilities: 
The person(s) selected for these positions will be responsible for quality fitness programming for our 55+ members and guests.​

Requirements: Prior group exercise instructor experience desirable; certifications to teach are preferred but not required. The successful applicant must have their own transportation, be reliable, have excellent written and oral communication, and have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, stoop and twist, and see and hear clearly.
 



Lifeguards & Swim Lesson Instructors 20th Avenue


Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday

Responsibilities: Keep our pools safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to our members. 

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Swim Instructors will have WSI preferred but not necessary; will train.
 
 

Before and After School Staff


Hours per Week: Part Time

Work Days: 2-6pm Monday-Friday

Responsibilities: The Before and After-school program for children at area elementary schools. Staff provide supervision, assist in lesson planning and implementation of activities, and provide homework assistance. 

Requirements: Must have complete at least 1-3 credit course in Education or have completed the 15 hour School Age Assistant course. Certification course can be completed during employment.



Youth Sports Officials 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities: Officiate youth programs such as basketball, soccer and football.

Requirements: Applicant must be educated in sports officiating, have an outgoing and patient personality, and have a passion for working with children. It is important that applicants are devoted, enthusiastic, and committed to instilling the four core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) into the players and coaches they come in contact with.
 


 

Assistant Teachers Downtown & 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Varies between 6am-8pm Monday-Friday

Requirements: Applicants must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements for Assistant Teachers, and previous experience is preferred.

 



Lead Teacher 4/5 Classroom Downtown Y

 

Hours per Week: Full-time

Work Days: Monday-Friday between 6am and 6pm

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include lesson planning, classroom management, parent communication, curriculum development, record keeping, and classroom organization. 

Requirements:  Must be a highly motivated and high enegery person able to provide a safe and fun environment for our 4/5-year olds. Must meet DCF licensing requirements for Lead Teacher and a Registry Certificate Level 7 or higher is preferred.
