There are several different areas to work in the Oshkosh Community YMCA. We are currently hiring for the following positions:



 


20th Ave Membership Staff 


Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: 8AM to 8PM weekdays and rotating hours on weekends.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the member service team members are s responsible for membership sales, program registration and providing services to members and guests. Building lasting relationships with our members is essential to the growth and longevity of the Y and our mission. The Oshkosh Community YMCA strives to extend the very best in customer care to all who come through the doors!

Requirements: Applicants must be able to move freely throughout the building and be available approximately 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years customer service experience, excellent communication skills & computer skills, be energetic, positive and motivated.

Baseball Concession Staff – Red Arrow and Marble Park 



Responsibilities:  Food prep, customer service, light cleaning.

Requirements:  Must be 16 years of age.

 



Baseball/Softball Umpires – Red Arrow and Marble Park 



Requirements: Must be 16 years of age – prefer WIAA certifications but not required. If not certified, MUST have prior umpiring experience.


 



Tennis Professional (starting June 1) 

 

Hours per Week: Part Time

Requirements: Junior Program Specialist with a strong background in Stroke Technique and Training Regimens.

Childcare Teachers - 20th Avenue & Downtown  

 

Hours per Week: Part Time AND Full Time

Work Days: Varies between 6am-6pm Monday-Friday

Qualifications/Experience:  Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements for Assistant Teachers. (Early Childhood 1) Lead Teachers must also have Early Childhood 2. Experience working with children is preferred.

20th Avenue Building Supervisor 

 

We are currently seeking motivated individuals who enjoying working with people, especially the youth population. 

Hours: Shifts available starting at 3 or 5 PM Monday-Friday and 6:30 AM on weekends.  

Requirements: Must have strong communication skills and be able to multi-task. Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities: Supervision of the building and members, giving tours to prospective members, event set up/take down, etc.

Camp Winni-Y-Co Counselor 

 
Hours per week:  Full Time (June 12-Sept. 1), Training begins mid-May (must be available to attend in the evening until Camp begins), Monday-Friday (including 3 overnights)

Pay: Weekly stipend (depending on experience)
 
Responsibilities: Caring for children ages 5-11 years old at Camp Winni-Y-Co. Staff members need to be energetic and like being active! Staff are responsible for lesson planning each week, attending weekly field trips, and running counselor-planned clubs. Each week will include activities like arts and crafts, bike trails, large group games, ice breakers, nature activities, playground activities, and more! Counselors will work closely with their counselor peers and the Camp Director.
 
Requirements: Prior experience working with children in a camp or similar location is highly encouraged, but not necessary. Desire to be outdoors and active is a must! Training in all areas required will be provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
 



Summer Fun Club Assistant Teacher 

 

Hours per Week: Part time (36 hours per week, June 12-Sept. 1. Training begins mid-May.

Requirements: Staff are to be available all training dates. These will be given during interview. Staff are to be available from 6AM-6PM as they could be scheduled at any time during those hours. Teen Adventure Program Staff 

 
Hours: Full time staff, 40 hours per week (1 position available). Part time staff, 35-38 hours per week (2 positions available)
 
Education/Experience: 6 credits in education or development, or 2-department approved non-credit courses. Previous work or volunteer experience is preferred.
 
Requirements: We are looking for adventurous and outgoing individuals to join our Teen program. Teen staff are responsible for planning weekly activities, clubs, and special events. Teen staff are also required to attend all weekly field trips and supervise teens accordingly. Teen staff work closely with Teen supervisor and Coordinator to operate an organized, safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all participants. Special events include: family nights, biking, trips into the community, mini hikes, and service activities.

 


 

Marble Park Lifeguards, Head Guards & Swim Lesson Instructors

 
Hours per Week: Part time (May-August)

Responsibilities: Keep our pond safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to all patrons. 

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. (Will train for Waterfont) Swim Instructors must have experience in swim instruction.

Preschool Camp Counselor 
 

Hours per week:  Part time (35-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday), June 12-Sept. 1, Training begins mid-May

Pay:  Starting at $7.50
 
Responsibilities: Caring for children ages 4-5 years at Preschool Camp at the Oshkosh Community YMCA 20th Ave. location.  Staff members need to be energetic and like interacting with young and active children. Staff are responsible for planning age-appropriate lessons, completing lesson plans, and attending weekly field trips. Each week will include games, art, science, nature and much more. Counselors will work closely with the head counselor and Camp Director.
 
Requirements: A minimum one, 3-credit course in child development or education. Prior experience working with young children is highly encouraged but not necessary.  

 



Before and After School Staff

 

Hours per Week: Part Time

Work Days: 6-8am and/or 2-6pm Monday-Friday

Cafe Staff 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the cafe, daily cleaning procedures, customer service including using a cash register, food handling and preparation.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older. Previous food service experience preferred but not required. Most hours are afternoon, evening and weekends (occasional day shifts).

 



Pro Shop/Zamboni Driver 20th Avenue


Hours per week: Part time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the pro shop, customer service during open skate programs including using a cash register and handing out skate, skate sharpening, and operating the Zamboni. 

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older. Experience is not necessary as all training will be provide. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.

 
 

Part-time Custodian/Maintenance 20th Avenue


Hours per Weeek: Part time

Responsibilities: Work with our Property Director to provide cleaning, light maintenance, snow removal, and mowing.

Requirements: A flexible schedule and weekend availability
 

 



Climbing Wall Staff 20th Avenue
 

Hours per Week:  2-3 days per week, and as needed for climbing groups and classes. 

Requirements: Some knowledge in rock climbing (although not necessary), Working age requirement (16+), able to work weekends midday and week night. 

Responsibilities: Belay kids and adults, Teach climbing classes, maintain safety in the climbing wall, daily wall checks and cleaning. 


 




Health and Wellness Center Staff 20th Avenue


Hours per week: Part time

Work Days: Monday, Thursday, and Friday (5-9AM)  

Responsibilities: Health and Wellness Center Staff is required to instruct participants in the essentials of a safe and effective wellness program and oversee the safety of all individuals utilizing the Wellness Center.

Requirements: Health and Wellness Center Staff is required to have current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid. A degree in health & fitness or related field and a national personal training or equivalent certifications preferred but not required. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary along with the ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to provide wellness support to members of all ages and abilities.

 

 




Health and Wellness Center Staff Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part time

Responsibilities: Provide direct supervision of all strength training and aerobic rooms. Provide new member orientations, fitness assessments and tours. Build trusting relationships and assist members as needed. Clean and maintain fitness equipment in the Health and Wellness Center. 

Requirements: Degree in Exercise Science or National Personal Training Certification is preferred. CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Adaptable, friendly and outgoing personality. Exemplify the core values of the YMCA and all aspects of fitness.

 


 

Group Exercise Instructors


Hours per Week: Part time

Responsibilities: Instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs.

Requirements: Possession of a national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction is preferred but not required. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required. Be willing to sub for other instructors when needed.

 



Corporate Wellness Instructors
 

 
Hours per Week: Part time

Responsibilities: Part time Corporate Wellness Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

Requirements: Prior group exercise instructor experience (and certifications) are desirable but not required. Successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for helping to provide quality fitness programming for corporate wellness clients. They will be outgoing, friendly and have a genuine desire to help others. They must have their own transportation, be reliable, have excellent written and oral communication, and have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally, bend, stoop and twist, and see and hear clearly.
 


Active Aging Instructors

 
Hours per Week: Part time
 
Responsibilities: Part time Active Aging Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

Group Cycling Instructor Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Hours per Week: Part time
 
Work Days: Noon hour weekdays DTC &/or Mornings at 20th Ave.
 
Requirements: Possession of a Group Cycling certification is preferred but not required. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required. Instruct a fun and energetic indoor group cycling class.

 
 

Zumba/Hip Hop/Cize Live Instructors Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Hours per Week: Part time
 
Work Days: Varies based on instructor and room availability.
 
Requirements: Possession of Zumba or Cize Live certification is required. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but not required. Instruct fun and energizing classes. Be willing to sub for other instructors when needed.
 



Drop-In Childcare 20th Avenue & Downtown 


Hours per week: Part time

Responsibilities: Responsible for the safety and well-being of children 6 weeks to 6 years of age during the time parents are in the facility. Must supervise and participate in play and activities with the children, maintain discipline and order, and maintain open communitication with parents. 

Requirements: At least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.

 



Lifeguards & Swim Lesson Instructors 20th Avenue and Downtown


Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Keep our pools safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to our members. 

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Swim Instructors must have experience in swim instruction.

 

 


Adult Sports Officials (Football and Soccer) 20th Avenue


Hours per week: Part time

Work Days: Leagues take place on week nights and weekends.

Responsibilities: This person will be responsible for the officiating of adult leauges. They will officiate games, monitor play, enforce rules, and create a positive environment for our teams.

Requirements: Previous soccer and/or football experience is importment. 



 




Youth Sports Officials 20th Avenue 

 

Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days: Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities: Officiate youth programs such as basketball, soccer and football.

Requirements: Applicant must be educated in sports officiating, have an outgoing and patient personality, and have a passion for working with children. It is important that applicants are devoted, enthusiastic, and committed to instilling the four core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) into the players and coaches they come in contact with.
