SCHOOL AGE DEPARTMENT STAFF


The Oshkosh YMCA School Age Department is seeking outgoing, responsible, caring, and dedicated staff to work in our Before and After School Programs for the 2018-2019 school year. We are currently hiring Site Supervisors, Group Leaders, an Assistant Group Leaders.

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: 6-8am and/or 2:30-6pm Monday-Friday
 
Responsibilities: Staff are responsible for day to day operations and supervision and engagement with youth at each site. A typical day schedule will include; An afternoon snack, homework help, outside play, group lessons, and interest areas.

Before and After School Staff

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: 6-8am and/or 2-6pm Monday-Friday

Lifeguards & Swim Lesson Instructors 20th Avenue and Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Keep our pools safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to our members. 

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Swim Instructors must have experience in swim instruction.
 




Water Fitness Instructors 20th Avenue and Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time (Weekend and evening hours preferred)

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Instruct various water Fitness Classes while keeping a positive and upbeat attitude. Will train the right person. Water certifications not required, but are preferred.

Cafe Staff 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the cafe, daily cleaning procedures, customer service including using a cash register, food handling and preparation.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older. Previous food service experience preferred but not required. Most hours are afternoon, evening and weekends (occasional day shifts).


 




Pro Shop/Zamboni Driver 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the pro shop, customer service during open skate programs including using a cash register and handing out skate, skate sharpening, and operating the Zamboni. 

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older. Experience is not necessary as all training will be provide. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.

 




Childcare Teachers - 20th Avenue & Downtown  

 

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time & Full-Time

Work Days: Varies between 6am-6pm, Monday-Friday

Qualifications/Experience:  Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements for Assistant Teachers. (Early Childhood 1) Lead Teachers must also have Early Childhood 2. Experience working with children is preferred.

Building Supervisor - 20th Avenue

 

We are currently seeking motivated individuals who enjoying working with people, especially the youth population. 

Hours: Shifts available starting at 3 or 5 PM Monday-Friday and 6:30 AM on weekends.  

Requirements: Must have strong communication skills and be able to multi-task. Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities: Supervision of the building and members, giving tours to prospective members, event set up/take down, etc.  


 


 

Custodian/Maintenance - 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Weeek: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Work with our Property Director to provide cleaning, light maintenance, snow removal, and mowing.

Requirements: A flexible schedule and weekend availability

 




Climbing Wall Staff -  20th Avenue
 

Hours per Week:  Part-Time up to 15 hours per week, 2-3 days per week and as needed for climbing groups and classes. 

Requirements: Some knowledge in rock climbing (although not necessary), Working age requirement (16+), able to work weekends mid-day and week nights. Exemplify the core values of the YMCA and all aspects of fitness.  Able to attain an (ACCT) Association for Challenge Course Technology- Lead Facilitator for the Challenge Course and Climbing Wall certification within a calendar year.

Responsibilities: Belay kids and adults, teach climbing classes, scout groups/other groups, maintain safety in the climbing wall, daily wall checks and cleaning. 


 





Group Exercise Instructors: Group Cycling/Zumba/Hip Hop/Cize/Corporate Wellness


Hours per Week: Part-Time

 

1. Group Cycling Instructor - Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Work Days: Noon hour weekdays DTC &/or Mornings at 20th Ave.
 
Requirements: Possession of a Group Cycling certification is preferred but not required. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required. Instruct a fun and energetic indoor group cycling class.

Responsibilities: Instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs.


 

2. Zumba/Hip Hop/Cize Live Instructors Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Work Days: Varies based on instructor and room availability.
 
Requirements: Possession of Zumba or Cize Live certification is required. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but not required. Instruct fun and energizing classes. Be willing to sub for other instructors when needed.


3. Corporate Wellness Instructors


Hours per Week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Part-Time Corporate Wellness Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

-Muscle Conditioning
-Pilates/Core
-Yoga
-Stretching/Relaxation
-Boot Camp/Fit Camp

Requirements: Prior group exercise instructor experience (and certifications) are desirable but not required. Successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for helping to provide quality fitness programming for corporate wellness clients. They will be outgoing, friendly and have a genuine desire to help others. They must have their own transportation, be reliable, have excellent written and oral communication, and have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally, bend, stoop and twist, and see and hear clearly.
 



Active Aging Instructors

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time
 

Responsibilities: Part-Time Active Aging Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

-Muscle Conditioning,
-Low Impact Aerobics
-Onsite and Offsite class options available
 

Requirements: Prior group exercise instructor experience (and certifications) are desirable but not required. Successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for helping to provide quality fitness programming for corporate wellness clients. They will be outgoing, friendly and have a genuine desire to help others. They must have their own transportation, be reliable, have excellent written and oral communication, and have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally, bend, stoop and twist, and see and hear clearly.
 



Drop-In Childcare - 20th Avenue & Downtown 

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Responsible for the safety and well-being of children 6 weeks to 6 years of age during the time parents are in the facility. Must supervise and participate in play and activities with the children, maintain discipline and order, and maintain open communitication with parents. 

Requirements: At least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.

 

 



Adult Sports Officials (Football and Soccer) - 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Work Days: Leagues take place on week nights and weekends.

Responsibilities: This person will be responsible for the officiating of adult leauges. They will officiate games, monitor play, enforce rules, and create a positive environment for our teams.

Requirements: Previous soccer and/or football experience is importment. 

 


 




Youth Sports Officials - 20th Avenue 

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities: Officiate youth programs such as basketball, soccer and football.

Requirements: Applicant must be educated in sports officiating, have an outgoing and patient personality, and have a passion for working with children. It is important that applicants are devoted, enthusiastic, and committed to instilling the four core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) into the players and coaches they come in contact with.
