There are several different areas to work in the Oshkosh Community YMCA. We are currently hiring for the following positions:

 

 

Membership Staff 

 
Hours per Week: Part time

Work Days:  20th Ave Y:  4PM-10PM weeknights and rotating hours on weekends.
                      

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the member service team members are s responsible for membership sales, program registration and providing services to members and guests.  Validating memberships, selling day passes and folding towels.  Building lasting relationships with our members is essential to the growth and longevity of the Y and our mission. The Oshkosh Community YMCA strives to extend the very best in customer care to all who come through the doors!

Requirements: Applicants must be able to move freely throughout the building and be available approximately 15-20 hours per week. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years customer service experience, excellent communication & computer skills, be energetic, positive, and motivated.

Work Days: Hours vary M-F  between 6AM-6PM, program operates June 11th-August 31st.  Training begins end of May. Must be available to work all 12 weeks of the program and be in attendance for all training dates.

Hours per Week: Full time Leaders (40 hours per week) Part time Leaders (32-38 hours per week)
 
Educational requirements: Full time Leaders (6 credits in education or related field OR 2 department approved noncredit courses) Part time Leaders (3 credits in education or related field OR one department approved noncredit course, which can be completed upon hire)

Responsibilities: Engage and supervise youth in a fun, positive, and safe environment. Plan and implement weekly activities, themes, and enjoy weekly field trips! Staff are responsible for day to day operations of the program, participants, and activities. Downtown Summer Fun Club Coordinator

The Coordinator is responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of the program including overseeing staff and program participants. The Coordinator must possess very strong skills in organization, leadership, and communication. The must demonstrate the ability to lead and supervise others positively and professionally. Camp Winni-Y-Co Counselor (Summer)

 
Hours per Week: Full-Time (seasonal)

Work Days: Hours Vary M-F 7AM-6PM (June 11th-August 31st).  Training week of June 4-8.

Responsibilities: Engage children ages 5-11 in fun and exciting activities at our daycamp.  Enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, and archery along with swimming and weekly fieldtrips.  Make this the best summer ever and impact a child in a positive way!
 
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age and graduated high school.  Must LOVE working with kids and not afraid to have fun, sing, and be goofy.  Previous childcare/camp experience preferred but not required.  Must be available all 12 weeks of camp AND the training week.  Male applicants encouraged to apply!!!

Before and After School Staff

Intergenerational Room Staff - Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time (1-2 shifts per week; every other Saturday)

Work Days: Monday-Friday 3:30-8:00 pm; Saturdays 11:00 am-5:00 pm; School days off and Early Release days shifts may vary

Qualifications/Experience: Applicants must be 16 years of age or older. Previous experience working with youth is preferred, but not required. Must be positive, outgoing and possess strong leadership skills. 

Responsibilities: Supervising and engaging youth members in structured activities during after school hours including: Arts and crafts, board games, and more. Maintain orderly and clean Intergenerational room space for all Y members.

Marble Park Beach - Multiple Positions

 

Positions available: Lifeguard, Head Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Concessions Staff

Hours per Week: Part-Time (seasonal)

Work Days: M-F 9 AM-7 PM Sat-Sun 11:30 AM-7:30 PM (hours vary per position)

Responsibilities: Demonstrates common sense and has great communication skills. Enjoys being outdoors and can handle weather conditions as they arise. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and completes related reports as required. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules and guidelines for the entire beachfront area. Maintains active surveillance of the waterfront area (lifeguard specific).

Requirements: 
Minimum age of 16 (all positions)
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with First Aid (all positions)
Certified Lifeguard – American Red Cross preferred (lifeguard positions)
Waterfront Lifeguard – is willing to acquire this training if not certified (lifeguard positions)

Lifeguards & Swim Lesson Instructors 20th Avenue and Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Keep our pools safe and fun, and provide an enjoyable experience to our members. 

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Lifeguards must be current in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Swim Instructors must have experience in swim instruction.
 




Water Fitness Instructors 20th Avenue and Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time (Weekend and evening hours preferred)

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Instruct various water Fitness Classes while keeping a positive and upbeat attitude. Will train the right person. Water certifications not required, but are preferred.

Aquatics Coordinator - 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Week: Fulltime position, Hourly (40 hours) – Benefits included

Work Days: Must be able to work between 5am-9pm Monday-Friday, 6am-7 pm Saturday and Sunday (The summer hours change to Saturday: 8am-5pm and Sunday: 9am-12pm).

Responsibilities: Assists in developing, organizing and implementing high quality YMCA aquatic programs. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for aquatics staff in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.

Requirements:

  • One or two years related experience; for example, as a Head Guard, Aquatic Coordinator, Supervisor or Manager.

  • Must be 21 years of age.

  • Holds a current certification in:

  • ARC Lifeguard (minimum of 2 years’ experience) – YMCA, Ellis, Star Guard is allowed, but staff is willing to recertify as ARC Lifeguard.

  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with First Aid (2 years’ experience).

  • Lifeguard Instructor – If not current, is willing to acquire this certification if not already.

  • YSLv6 – is willing to acquire this certification if not already.

  • Administering Emergency Oxygen – recommended (required if YSLv6).

  • CPO, Certified Pool Operator – is willing to acquire this certification if not already.

Cafe Staff 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the cafe, daily cleaning procedures, customer service including using a cash register, food handling and preparation.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older. Previous food service experience preferred but not required. Most hours are afternoon, evening and weekends (occasional day shifts).


 




Pro Shop/Zamboni Driver 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Opening and closing the pro shop, customer service during open skate programs including using a cash register and handing out skate, skate sharpening, and operating the Zamboni. 

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older. Experience is not necessary as all training will be provide. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.

 




Childcare Teachers - 20th Avenue & Downtown  

 

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time & Full-Time

Work Days: Varies between 6am-6pm, Monday-Friday

Qualifications/Experience:  Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements for Assistant Teachers. (Early Childhood 1) Lead Teachers must also have Early Childhood 2. Experience working with children is preferred.

Building Supervisor - 20th Avenue

 

We are currently seeking motivated individuals who enjoying working with people, especially the youth population. 

Hours: Shifts available starting at 3 or 5 PM Monday-Friday and 6:30 AM on weekends.  

Requirements: Must have strong communication skills and be able to multi-task. Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities: Supervision of the building and members, giving tours to prospective members, event set up/take down, etc.  


 


 

Custodian/Maintenance - 20th Avenue

 

Hours per Weeek: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Work with our Property Director to provide cleaning, light maintenance, snow removal, and mowing.

Requirements: A flexible schedule and weekend availability

 



Climbing Wall Staff -  20th Avenue
 

Hours per Week:  Part-Time, 2-3 days per week and as needed for climbing groups and classes. 

Requirements: Some knowledge in rock climbing (although not necessary), Working age requirement (16+), able to work weekends midday and week night. 

Responsibilities: Belay kids and adults, Teach climbing classes, maintain safety in the climbing wall, daily wall checks and cleaning. 

 


 

Health and Wellness Center Staff - Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Provide direct supervision of all strength training and aerobic rooms. Provide new member orientations, fitness assessments and tours. Build trusting relationships and assist members as needed. Clean and maintain fitness equipment in the Health and Wellness Center. 

Requirements: Degree in Exercise Science or National Personal Training Certification is preferred. CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Adaptable, friendly and outgoing personality. Exemplify the core values of the YMCA and all aspects of fitness.


 


 

Clinical Massage Therapist- 20th Avenue/Downtown

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Perform professional massage services to all paying members and non-members. Perform employee wellness workshops to our full-time and part-time staff. Track metrics with all clientele to include retention, drop-rates, and revenue generated.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times. Coordinate monthly projects with the Health and Wellness Director. Assist with the annual campaign and yearly volunteering opportunities. 

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree Preferred), Licensed Massage Therapist, Trigger Point Therapy Certified- Preferred, Proficiency and working knowledge of computers, WiFi, email and cell phone technology.

Hours per Week: Part-Time

 

1. Group Cycling Instructor - Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Work Days: Noon hour weekdays DTC &/or Mornings at 20th Ave.
 
Requirements: Possession of a Group Cycling certification is preferred but not required. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred but not required. Instruct a fun and energetic indoor group cycling class.

Responsibilities: Instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Modifies class as needed to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs.


 

2. Zumba/Hip Hop/Cize Live Instructors Downtown & 20th Avenue
 

Work Days: Varies based on instructor and room availability.
 
Requirements: Possession of Zumba or Cize Live certification is required. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but not required. Instruct fun and energizing classes. Be willing to sub for other instructors when needed.


3. Corporate Wellness Instructors


Hours per Week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Part-Time Corporate Wellness Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

Active Aging Instructors

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time
 

Responsibilities: Part-Time Active Aging Instructors are needed!  If you have an interest in leading any of the following class formats, the Oshkosh Community YMCA wants to hear from you.

Drop-In Childcare - 20th Avenue & Downtown 

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Responsibilities: Responsible for the safety and well-being of children 6 weeks to 6 years of age during the time parents are in the facility. Must supervise and participate in play and activities with the children, maintain discipline and order, and maintain open communitication with parents. 

Requirements: At least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.

 

 



Adult Sports Officials (Football and Soccer) - 20th Avenue

 

Hours per week: Part-Time

Work Days: Leagues take place on week nights and weekends.

Responsibilities: This person will be responsible for the officiating of adult leauges. They will officiate games, monitor play, enforce rules, and create a positive environment for our teams.

Requirements: Previous soccer and/or football experience is importment. 

 


 




Youth Sports Officials - 20th Avenue 

 

Hours per Week: Part-Time

Work Days: Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities: Officiate youth programs such as basketball, soccer and football.

Requirements: Applicant must be educated in sports officiating, have an outgoing and patient personality, and have a passion for working with children. It is important that applicants are devoted, enthusiastic, and committed to instilling the four core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) into the players and coaches they come in contact with.
