The Oshkosh YMCA provides a health and fitness community for everyone. We are here to support you on the road to better health. Our trained staff evaluate new fitness members to help design a workout routine and schedule that can get you to your goals. Whether you're in shape and want to stay that way, or out of shape and ready to move toward a healthier lifestyle, the YMCA has a program and a place for you. And, we offer you state-of-the-art equipment and a wide array of group exercise classes to help you reach your fitness goals.

Health & Wellness NewsLIVESTRONG at the YMCA. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. Fitness staff work with each participant to fit the program to their individual needs. In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides participants a supportive environment and a feeling of community with their fellow survivors, YMCA Staff and members. Active Older Adult ProgramActive Older Adult Programs are free to members. Activity Members can participate for a daily fee of $3 per day before noon Monday through Friday. An 18-visit punch card can also be purchased for $54. Water Excercise, Walk fo Fitness, Stretch, Flex & Balance, and SilverSneakers are included in the program. Boot CampTake everything you learned in gym class and put it to some heart pumping music.
This cardio class will include plyometric skills, running, jumping, drills, kickboxing, jumping jacks, pushups, sit-ups, squats, lunges and so much more!
Cardio Fusion
This class blends all of your favorite cardio classes into one great workout. Each class willoffer something different for an awesome calorie burner. IT'S AWESOME!
Cardio Kick-BoxingNOW AT BOTH LOCATIONS! Enjoy punching, jabbing, hooking, kicking and jumping in this cardiovascular workout. This non-contact class is done to music and uses moves from boxing to kick-boxing. Free to members.
Core StrengthScultpting and toning class with a STRONG emphasis on the body's midsection and core work.
Fit For Life
This intermediate/advanced level class includes a cardio section that incorporates running, jumping and free-style high-impact aerobic moves (i.e. jumping jacks & knee lifts) and toning and stretching section that includes abdominal, leg and buttocks exercises. The class is done to upbeat music. Participants are encouraged to exercise at their own pace.
Fitness AssessmentFree for Oshkosh YMCA Members! Contact the Lifestyle Center to schedule a fitness assessment. For activity members the cost is $10 for a full test and $5 for a body fat test.
Group Cycling ClassNOW ALSO AT 20TH AVE!
Take this non-impact journey conducted on specially designed stationary bikes. The coach will take participants through a 45-60 minute workout, which will leave them motivated and inspired to train again. Participants are encouraged to work at
their own pace. Participation number required.
Holiday Shape-Up
Do you want to lose weight and gain muscle tone? Lose that "seasonal seven!" Coaches will motivate and guide you thorugh an hour of total fitness. Pre- and post-tests will be conducted. Meets Mondays 8:30-10am AND Wednesdays 9-10:30am Winter I. Fee: $50/members or $75/non-members.
Home School Fit 4 Kids
This activity is physical education for the home-schooled child. Fit 4 Kids uses, organized, instructional and cooperative games to fill a 12-week curriculum. Class limited to 45 participants. For ages 6-14 (three groups will be established on age/child distribution). Session runs from January 16-April 4, 2012.
Interval
This intense conditional class alternates between cardiovascular and strength exercises. Come ready for a combination of step aerobics, kickboxing, floor aerobics, squats, lunges, pushups, ab work and more.
Jump Start 2012
Start the New Year right! Are you tired of starting a
fitness routine and losing your ambition to continue?? Are you unsure what exercise burns the most calories?? Do you need to amp up your current routine?? This group personal training class
is for you! Meets Tues & Thurs from 5:30-6:30pm Winter I. Fee: $75 Members or $100 Activity Members.
Low Impact
This low-impact workout includes a warm-up, walking, low impact aerobic moves and toning.
Muscle ConditioningThis strength conditioning and toning class is a great compliment to anyone's cardiovascular routine. Increase muscular strength using resistance tubing, bands, weights and body bars. A class suited to both the beginner and the advanced.
New Member OrientationWe offer each new member complimentary time with a personal trainer to introduce you to our cardio and circuit machines. Based on your goals and fitness level, our certified trainers will teach you how to use the equipment appropriate for you. You will be instructed on proper form and how to adjust the machines. The amount of time spent with our trainer will be based on your personal needs. This orientation is designed to help you feel more comfortable with our equipment, and to get off to a good start. In order to maximize the benefits from this program, it is necessary to complete the program within 60 days of your joining date. Contact the Health & Wellness Center to schedule your appointment. PilatesPilates helps strengthen the entire body while increasing flexibilty. This non-impact mat class will make its participants sweat!
Program RefresherOur training staff is available to update your existing workout routine every 8-10 weeks. This gives you an opportunity to add some new, more challenging exercises to your current program. Contact the Health & Wellness Center for more information or to schedule your appointment. Saturday Morning Workout
Start your weekend off on the right foot with fun and exciting workouts varying between zumba, cardio kickboxing, muscle conditioning, interval and more!
Spring Shape-Up
Do you want to lose body fat and gain muscle tone? Then this is your class! Coaches will motivate and guide you through an hour of total fitness, using cardio and weight machines. Pre- and post-fitness evaluations will be conducted to track results. Meets 8:30-10am Mondays AND 9-10:30am Wednesdays Spring I or Spring II. Fee: $50/members or $75/non-members.
Step Aerobics/Step & SculptThis is a moderate impact class that involves a wide range of stepping patterns on an adjustable bench and incorporates a cardiovascular workout as well as toning and strength exercises using hand weights and resistance tubing. Can be adapted to all fitness levels. Step & Sculpt includes an extra 15 minutes of toning and strength exercises.
Total Body Conditioning
This small group class of 4-8 people will incorporate medicine balls, free weights, circuit machines, and BOSU balance trainers to target every major muscle group. This class is geared towards any fitness level and will be tailored to challenge each person. Tue & Thurs 6:45-7:45pm Winter I, Spring I or Spring II. $50/members; $70/non-members.
YMCA/Affinity Healthy Heart Program
This program is a transition to independent exercise for those who have recently had a cardiac event. The Healthy Heart program will continue to build on physical fitness and endurance that you have gained during the Affinity Health System Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. You are eligible to participate in this program once you have completed the Affinity Health System Cardiac Rehabilitation Program or have been enrolled in the Affinity Health System Maintenance Program.
You will receive an initial one-hour orientation followed by four 30-minute sessions. A personal trainer will design an individualized exercise program based on guideline provided by Cardiac Rehabilitation Staff from Affinity Health System. During these sessions, blood pressure will be monitored before and after exercise. Register at the 20th Ave YMCA.
Cost is $70 for Y Members and $135 for Non-members (includes a 3-month unlimited membership).
YMCA/Affinity HUGS-You Count, Calories Don't
This non-diet lifestyle program facilitated by a Registered Dietitian from Affinity Health System, focuses on helping men and women make positive lifestyle choices in the areas of healthy eating, fun physical activity, and positive self-esteem and body image. Course fee includes eight sessions, guidebook, workbook, post-program book and an exercise program based on your needs. A personal trainer arranges group exercise sessions with program participants twice a week for the duration of the program. Post-program support is available in the form of on-line web support. YMCA/Aurora Healthcare for Diabetes
Multiple research studies have shown that losing weight, improving nutrition and engaging in regular exercise are important factors in controlling blood sugar levels. The Downtown YMCA and Aurora Health Care are partnering together to provide Diabetes patients with an exercise program to help them manage their disease.
For a $65 fee the Downtown Center YMCA will provide three months of personal attention by fitness staff. Participants are encouraged to exercise three times weekly at the Downtown YMCA and to monitor blood sugar levels. Aurora Healthcare will provide Diabetes Education Program (please contact your insurance for questions concerning what your insurance company will cover). Participants must contact Aurora Health Care for Diabetic Education class times and fees. Fee: $65. Call 303-8700 ext 5700.
YogaHatha Yoga is offered for all fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to work at their own level and pace.
ZumbaZumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves that allow participants to dance away their worries. Great for the body and mind! It's a feel-happy fusion of Latin and International music-dance that creates a dynamic fitness system. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
