Lisa Bifano, Aquatics Director (20th Avenue)
work: 920.230.8913
I was never a YMCA kid growing up. In my youth, I participated in after school sports during the school year, volleyball and dance team; while during the summers, I spent all of my time at my family’s cottage on Cedar Lake in Kiel, Wisconsin. Being such a water child growing up it only made sense to become a lifeguard when I turned 16.

My journey at the Oshkosh YMCA began at our Downtown location in 2010 where I continued lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons, and adding to my love for water, I began teaching water fitness classes! I have become such close friends with my co-workers and I think of many as family, being there for each other through tears and laughter, milestones and tragedies. I have also grown relationships with Y members of all ages, 2 year-olds to 101 year-olds. Seeing their smiles and hearing their stories makes my job the best job. The people that have come into my life because of the YMCA have made an impact on my life and heart forever.

I worked my way up from lifeguard to Aquatics Coordinator and in 2016 I became the Aquatics Director at our 20th Avenue location. I feel very lucky to be able to do what I love; the only thing I would trade it for is mermaid powers, in which case, I would become the ultimate Aquatics Director!

Needless to say, I am now a YMCA kid.
